Two levels are envisaged. For now we are calling them "associate teacher" sand "lead teacher". Associates should be reliable members of a course team, "lead" teachers develop apprentices and design the curriculum within the Mollisionian guidelines.

Teacher accreditation has three main areas to address:

Design competence

Diploma is a pre-requisite for "lead teacher".

Teaching competence

Ideally, this is assessed by direct observation. However, commendations from lead teachers, peers and students are an important factor.

International Course Curriculum.

We are following closely the PRI requirements that Angus had to submit when the PRI accredited him as a teacher.

If you want to be accredited as a lead teacher we will need assurances from you that you cover the topics from Mollison's original course. There is a lot of flexibility here, but the different areas need covering (even if it's only a few words of direction!).

Your courses may be very different to ours, but the main themes should still be covered. The reference for the course content is the chapter headings in "Permaculture, A Designer's Manual". Bill never tried to cover everything in detail, the Manual contains a lot of his "handouts" and writings, but it would be good if you could go through the chapter headings before applying for accreditation.
